Fire Safety

In its continuing commitment to life improvement, Pella Corporation created the Close the door on fire!® program to help raise awareness about the need for home fire safety preparedness. Because doors and windows are the primary means of escape in a home fire, properly maintained and operating windows and doors are a critical element in helping safeguard your family. Planning and practicing home fire escape drills is also essential to your safety.

As part of this campaign, Pella is pleased to make available a fire escape planning grid (PDF), online safety tips, and a free brochure simply by calling 1-866-829-9050. Completing the grid is one of the first steps in home fire safety planning. Use the grid to draw your home’s floor plan (draw one grid for each level in your home), marking two escape routes from each room — the doors and windows — and the locations of all smoke alarms (with an SA).

Additional education materials distributed nationwide to help spread vital home safety information include this colorful classroom poster (PDF), which highlights "10 Steps to Fire Safety." It is provided by Pella team members to classrooms in the United States and Canada.

The threat of a home fire never takes a holiday — it’s virtually year-round. That’s why Pella Corporation recommends you review our safety tips listed above and develop and practice a home fire escape plan to help protect your family and home. It’s easy and fun for the whole family.
