The U.S. 2009-2010 Energy Tax Credit
Beginning January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2010, you can replace your home’s old windows and doors with select Pella® windows and doors that may qualify for a tax credit up to $1,500 on your 2009 or 2010 federal income tax return.1
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 extends federal tax credits for eligible building components. The new law includes specific requirements including a U-Factor equal to or below 0.30 and a Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) equal to or below 0.30 in all climate zones in the U.S. The approved bill includes the ability for homeowners to gain a tax credit of 30 percent of the cost of qualifying energy-efficient upgrades to a maximum of $1,500 per household for 2009 and 2010.2

· Retain your NFRC label from each product along with sales receipt for tax credit verification and preparation. The NFRC label shows that the energy efficiency of the window or door meets or exceeds tax credit eligibility requirements.

View the charts below that feature Pella's ENERGY STAR-qualified products:
· The qualified Pella products must be installed in the taxpayer-owned principal residence after January 1, 2009 and before December 31, 2010.
NOTE: The credit only applies on the price of the qualified windows and doors themselves and excludes installation costs, onsite preparation, assembly or sales tax. Since qualifying Pella wood clad products offer factory-prefinishing, the cost of this feature is eligible for the credit. |

The Canadian Home Renovation Tax Credit
The Canadian government recently approved the Home Renovation Tax Credit (HRTC) for eligible homeowners. What does this mean for you?
You can receive up to a $1,350 tax credit when you replace your old windows and doors with select Pella products1!
You can receive a 15 percent tax credit of up to $1,350 for renovations that exceed $1,000 ─ up to a maximum of $10,0002.
Renovations must be completed between Jan. 27, 2009, and Jan. 31, 2010.
Multiple upgrades including kitchen and bath renovations, home additions, curb appeal projects like adding new sod, and deck or fence installation can qualify.
That’s not all! You can couple the new HRTC with the ecoENERGY Retrofit Program to offset the costs of installing ENERGY STAR® windows or doors. This program was designed to encourage Canadian homeowners like you to reduce your energy usage by upgrading major home appliances or heating systems with ENERGY STAR-qualified products.
You may qualify for ecoENERGY grants of up to $5,000 and still claim renovations under the HRTC.
When properly selected and installed, windows and doors can add to the appeal and comfort of a home, and reduce home energy costs by as much as 7 to 12 percent, according to ENERGY STAR Canada.
Look for window and door products with low U-Factors, which measure the ability to resist the transfer of heat. The lower the U-Factors, the better, and Pella has some of the lowest in the industry.
